It’s not so bad when considered in the light of day and without the pain of a toothache. I’m talking about son’s surprise engagement here. When questioned yesterday, he showed some intelligence and said they have no plans to marry before 2010. Yes! That means they will both be through school and son should be established in a job.
As for the toothache……I did see a dentist. Turns out the crown on the tooth in question doesn’t fit right and there’s a gap. Just enough space for food to get under the crown and start decaying the tooth underneath. I’m looking at getting the old crown removed and a new one put on and I may have to see a specialist because it may require cutting away some of the gum and bone. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I don’t know when that’s going to happen, though, because we’re talking about at least $1000 without the specialist. Our insurance doesn’t cover dental. Bummer. I don’t want to get a loan if I don’t have to. I’m still making payments on the last round of dental work I had done.
Megan had her cousin, Ariel, spend the night. Once I get them moving, we have to take Matt back to Pittsburgh and later I have to take Ariel home to the middle of nowhere about an hour and a half from here. It’s going to be a long day.

Oh Stacy, I feel your pain. We don’t have dental insurance either…the last time I was at the dentist they told me I had a cavity had to have it filled. I humored them, made the appt and then a few days later cancelled it…just can’t afford it right now. It’s not bothered me at all…I know eventually it probably will, guess I cross that bridge when I get to it.
Glad to hear the engagement isn’t so bad and they’re being smart about it!
Hope you were able to at least enjoy the scenery on your long drive….look at it this way, at least you didn’t have to deal with driving in sleet and snow.

That’s a long engagement. Sorry about the tooth. Your dentist shouldn’t have left a gap.

Good point about the dentists mistake…maybe the doctor should fix you up pro bono. As if that would happen! What a bright young man your son is! I’m glad that turned out well.

I’m glad that it is not as bad today for you. Hope the tooth is fixed in a timely fashion!

Chesney, it does suck that dental work costs so much and so many don’t have insurance. I could have had all my teeth pulled and gotten a full set of dentures for what it cost me the last time for two root canals and three crowns. Oh, and the scenery wasn’t bad and I got a visit to IKEA out of the deal.
Dr. John, it is a long engagement, but I am soooooo glad. They’ve only been dating for five months. I’m not about to point out that with them being only 20 and 18 an engagement is all it may ever be. As long as they are happy now and don’t rush into anything stupid I’m all for it.
Kat, I went to a different dentist. No way was I going back to the same one. The original was one of those huge clinics that has an entire financial staff to help you figure out how to pay for the extensive work they pressure you into. The one I saw this time is a hometown boy who would rather not pull teeth, but if that is the only option I can afford, he will do it.
