Some people have an easier time forgiving others that they do forgiving themselves. On the other hand, it might just make them feel important to think that their bad deeds had an influence on others and on the world.

That's what forgivness is all about. When we know God forgives then we can forgive ourselves and drop the past.

I once had it put like this to me: There was a man who carried his past with him, in a sack on his back. As he got older, it got heavier and people would tell him to put it down, to let go of it. But he couldn't. Wouldn't? One day he was walking over the bridge and it started to sway and to bend with the weight of it. People on the banks yelled to him to let go of his 'sack'. To throw it away and lighten his load so that the bridge would hold. He couldn't. Wouldn't? The bridge broke under the weight and he fell in the water and died. That story has always stuck with me.
